Overview
Dynamic Painting collects information reasonably needed to respond to inquiries, prepare estimates, schedule appointments, deliver services, understand website performance and maintain business records.
Information collected
This may include your name, phone number, email address, property address, postal code, how you heard about us, appointment details, project descriptions, photos you provide and correspondence. Website and analytics services may also process technical information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from network information, device and browser information, referral source, interactions with the website and similar usage data.
How information is used
- Respond to estimate requests and questions.
- Schedule and manage appointments.
- Prepare and complete contracted work.
- Maintain warranty, insurance, accounting and project records.
- Protect website security and understand general website performance.
- Measure which pages and contact options are useful to visitors.
- Measure advertising activity and help create audiences for relevant advertising.
Analytics and website measurement
Dynamic Painting uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand website usage and improve the site. These services may use cookies, local storage or similar technologies and may process technical and interaction data according to their own privacy terms. We use this information to understand overall traffic, page performance, navigation patterns and website usability.
Microsoft Clarity records website interactions such as clicks, scrolling and navigation to produce heatmaps and session replays. We use these reports to find usability problems and improve the estimate-request experience. Clarity masks sensitive text and information entered into form fields. Microsoft also processes usage data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Embedded videos and social profiles
Our website includes YouTube videos and an Instagram profile preview. The homepage channel and profile embeds load when you choose to open them. Other project video embeds may load as you scroll. Once loaded, these services receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details and operate under their own privacy terms. You can use the direct social profile links instead of loading an embed.
Estimate requests, Microsoft Bookings and email
Project-details form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify so Dynamic Painting can receive and respond to estimate requests. Netlify applies automated spam filtering to these submissions. Optional project photos are resized and re-encoded to remove embedded camera and location metadata, then stored separately in Netlify Blobs. The estimate request includes an unguessable download link that expires after 30 days.
Anyone with that link can download the photo while it is valid, so we treat these links as private. Uploaded copies are removed after expiry; photos saved to a project record follow our normal retention policy. Uploaded photos are not published in our gallery. Online appointments are processed through Microsoft Bookings under Microsoft’s applicable terms. You may also contact Dynamic Painting directly by phone or email.
Painting questions and colour visualizations
My Colour Plan saves up to four colour names, brands, codes, surfaces and selection preferences in this browser’s local storage for 90 days after your last change. You can remove saved colours in the tool. Photos and contact information are not saved with these favourites.
Checked colour details are included with your paint instructions when you consent to creating an AI concept, or with your estimate when you choose to submit it. Manufacturer colour-browser links open the manufacturer’s website under its own privacy terms.
The manual colour preview processes your photo in your browser. It is uploaded to us only if you later choose to include it in an estimate request and submit that form. If you choose AI visualization and accept photo processing, a resized copy with embedded metadata removed and your paint-change instructions are sent to our AI provider through our hosting service. We use OpenAI for these answers and images.
When paid AI answers are available, your question, up to two recent question-and-answer exchanges from the open chat, and relevant public painting guidance are sent for processing. Please do not include private client information in a question or upload a photo you do not have permission to use.
Your conversation stays in page memory until you leave or start a new conversation. If you choose to discuss your questions with Marc, up to four recent questions are copied into a temporary estimate draft for you to review and edit; assistant answers are not copied. To improve our FAQ, we keep individual painting questions privately after filtering common contact details such as email addresses, telephone numbers and street addresses.
Filtering is not a guarantee of anonymity, so please leave out personal or sensitive information. We store the filtered question, its topic, time, answer type and separate keyed browser/network identifiers to estimate how many different visitors ask it. We do not save the chat history or assistant answers in this question collection. Records follow a 90-day review period with daily cleanup.
Built-in example prompts and requests carrying Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals are excluded from this collection. The private records are not published or sent to search engines; only separately reviewed FAQ content may be published. Visualization alone does not save paint-change instructions, uploaded photos or generated images in our estimate records. Processing providers may retain data under their own terms; see OpenAI API data controls.
Saving a preview downloads it to your device. Visualization photos are not added to our Gallery. If you choose to carry a preview or calculator plan into an estimate request, a temporary copy of your chosen details and up to two reduced-size images is kept in this browser tab using session storage.
When you add a room plan, colour concept or questions from another tool, those selections are combined in this tab. A newer selection from the same tool replaces its earlier selection. The draft can be reused for 30 minutes after your last explicit addition; expired drafts are discarded when next read. Printing or saving a PDF creates a copy using your browser, without submitting an estimate request.
Saved copies remain under your control and are not removed when the temporary draft expires. You can review or remove the draft and choose which images to include before submitting. Submitting the estimate form sends the selected details and images through the estimate-request process described above, and clears the temporary draft. Closing the tab normally clears its session storage. Your original tools remain usable without sending an estimate request.
To enforce usage limits, we use an essential browser cookie and store keyed identifiers derived from your network address and browser identifier, request timestamps, success status and spending counters. Individual usage records are removed within eight days; aggregate monthly spending totals remain. Analytics records tool events without the contents of photos, paint-change instructions or questions.
Sharing and retention
We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers supporting hosting, analytics, website measurement, advertising, email, scheduling, accounting or project delivery, and when required by law. Records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which they were collected or as otherwise required.
Your choices
You can manage or block cookies and similar technologies through your browser settings and use the privacy and advertising controls provided by Google, Microsoft and Meta where available. You may also request access, correction or deletion of personal information where retention is not legally or operationally required. Contact marc@paintcalgary.ca for privacy questions or requests.
